Thanks for the video. We unknowingly adopted a manx cat. He looked normal when we first got him – except for his tail, which was (and still is) super kinked, but we didn't consider this to be a problem. It turns out it has affected his entire spine, as he has grown, he has gotten more unsteady on his feet – he has gone from being a playful cat who would run everywhere to avoiding walking and jumping because he is so unsteady and it breaks my heart. He has been super constipated for the past 2 weeks – we finally got him to poop, and now he has diarrhea. He has become incontinent of urine – his pee just leaks out and he has stopped using the litterbox. The times we have put him in the litterbox, he has started eating the litter which is distressing. He gets cold easily and I don't understand fully what's going on. We have called the vet but they are super busy and and it hard to get him in. I'd like for him to go back in to get an x-ray and urinalysis and blood draw, but the vet seems reluctant to do this because they are booked. Been wondering if I should try to find a new vet. This vet is great with my other cat but my other cat doesn't need nearly the attention as this new cat. Every time we bring our new cat into the vet with a different issue, the vet basically just tells us "well, he's a manx." I feel disheartened.
I just bought a minks cat and knowing what you just told me is very useful information we have a sweet kitty about eight weeks she cries when she goes to the bathroom so I'm very healthy and plays all the time and sleeps and eats but only cries when she goes to the litter box I was wondering if there is a remedy to help her with this where I don't have to play such a expensive pet visit to the hospital??
My cat had her tail crushed when it's almost healed it gets infected bad and her fur separated from the bone is that what this is she is all black even her nose had a full tail
I think my Manx cats tail is growing
Thank you. I am fostering a kitten who is a rumpy with some issues.
This took the life of 2 of my precious babies – Sylvie (also had swimmers syndrome) & Cloud. My previous Princess Grey-Grey (Sylvie's sister) survived but we still have to help her potty many times.
They get fecalomas then.
I’m wondering as a physician, if the cat in fact has the syndrome, getting the studies before any symptoms occur seems senseless , since it probably can’t be treated
How do you help them with soft stool and popping out of the litter box
I have a famale manx and she has some jumping issues and she is conscious about it because she decides not to jump from high anymore. I only give grain free food. And she is 3 years old and doing well so far.
I just rescued (literally from the street) a manx kitten. After he was dewormed this past week, he’s been leaking stool when he enters a deep sleep. It’s rather runny. I’m hoping it is because he is adjusting to new food and not serious
Thanks so much for this video.. I have a new kitten (MANX RUMPY) which I knew absolutely nothing about.. I’m trying to do more research on this breed.. shes having trouble with bowel movements, they seem to be very painful for her
