I owned British Shorthair for some time and they are very laid back cats, they will fit perfectly into your life. Our cat loved playing with us but we also had days where we would be gone for 9-10 hours and she was absolutely fine by herself. They tend to get health issues particularly with eyes and it's also worth to remember that they are very strong and big cats so they need proper build massive scratching post to
accommodate their weight.
My cat doesn't eat the whole bowl, even if you put a lot of food in it, she knows when to stop and she is SO energetic. She runs everywhere, jumps everywhere and explores everything. She isn't even fat which is the weird part. And yes, we are talking about the same cat breed, british short hair.
i have a mix, it destroys the local ecosystem, and is energetic outside by itself, hence the ecosystem collapsing, laid back, then brings a chunk of the ecosystem
I got to the oart about lap sitting and laughed out loud because my British kitten is in my lap watching this video with me 🤣
Are you sure that British shorthairs are cats and not literally every British person on the planet…
As someone who owns a 13 year old British Shorthair bought from a breeder in 2009, from experience I can confirm that almost all of these pros and cons are true; at 2:20 it says that they don't like sitting on your lap, it just depends on the mood they're in and how much they trust you. Also, at 4:30 it says that they're not a good match for people with fur allergies and this is not true. (from my experience) My cat's favourite person in my entire family is my sister who has allergies to fur. They don't like people with allergies extra or any less than anyone else, it all depends on how much love they get.
amazing video!
Would love to see a video about Exotic Shorthairs – not too much out there 🤨
We have shared our life with 4 British shorthairs (all different colours and all rescued/rehomed) and they all have different personalities. Personality depends greatly on where and how they grew up and how the 'owners' treat them. We respect their personalities. They can go and sleep wherever they want in the house and roam freely in our huge garden. Very busy people should not have pets as all pets require company and attention.
if a short hair isnt energetic then i got scammed ,
Yoshikage Kira would like to have a word with this cat
I got a british shorthair 3 weeks ago and i can say she is definitely not a lap cat and she hates it when you pick her up.
The pro is that they aver very beautiful cats , they are affectionate but with limitations ,they love to pet them, she plays but not as much as a regular domestic breed. Also i am alergic to many things cats too but soo far i dont have simptoms of alergies around my british shorthair cat. Another pro is that when we go to bed she goes to living room and hangs around does her own thing . I got 2 kids she plays with them but when they try to pet her too much and overdo it she hides behind our couch.
Pro you missed: they get on well with dogs.
I had 2 British shorthairs, and I couldn’t believe anyone considered them “not affectionate enough.” I adopted them as seniors, however, due to their senior person going to a nursing home, and they were her whole world. I’m sure she got them well acclimated to cuddling. They hugged me in bed with that loud purr. My son called it their “motors,” and would pet them before I went to bed and say, “Here’s Chessie/Tiger. I started her for you.” He would start their motors so they’d be ready to go ! They have since passed away, and my Burmese just died last month. I’m deciding on a kitten from one of those two breeds, because they are the most tightly bonded loveys I’ve ever had. I’ve had 30+ cats, including a Manx, a Turkish Van, a Sphynx, and many random bred. British Shorthairs and Burmese will always be my favorites! ❤
I love BSH 😻❤️🐾😽 i have one Golden , his name is Prinzy
can you do british shorthairs vs ragdolls please.
Moderately affectionate? I got mine yesterday and he hasn’t stopped laying on me purring. He’s definitely a lap cat. ❤😂
I have a British short hair it’s a girl she’s 5 years old

*I IMAGINE YOU 🤮🤮🤮🤮 VOMITING ON YOUR CAT!!*
We have Lenny living with us. Lenny is our thirty something daughters cat, but because she is a hospital nurse working shifts, we look after Lenny. He's a wonderful wee boy and spends much of his time outside under the trees and bushes. Lennys fur is a grey and black tabby pattern that helps him blend into the shadows.
I want that catttt but I can't afford it 😆 hopefully someone will give me that
I'm gonna get one and this helps alot
My Brit was a lap cat. He loved to lie on top of my chest, even when I was sitting. I used to sit whole evenings on the couch, unable to move. He also followed me everywhere around the house. Sadly he died over 2 years ago, because he ate a poisonous plant. I will never have the same bond with another animal, he was truly one of a kind.
0:30 not very true . My brit runs through the whole house at least 100-200 time in 30 minutes and we do have a big house but she does sleep about 10-11 hours after that
Precious kitties🥰🐾
My brother got a British shorthair cat for his daughter, It was quite expensive as well. I told him to take the cat out for summer and he mentioned that they're most likely to get stolen? Does anyone know why
If Sauron was a cat😂
All the "Cons" are things I would adore in a cat too!
Except the cat hair!
There is one of these cats but he has a grey and white coat the white on his chest and paws and that man is built he is strong as heck idk if it’s this breed exactly but it looks almost the same just instead of being chubby he is pure muscle and hasn’t had an owner until recently when i started feeding him he stays at the house now but he is always active and running i guess this is why he is kinda strong since no one ever fed him before he had to do his own hunting
